The kick-off meeting for the project “Women entrepreneurs in Australia and Vietnam: Building capacity, building relationships” - a collaboration between the University of Economics and Law (UEL) and Deakin University.
A virtual meeting was held at 9 A.M on June 26, 2021 between the representatives of UEL and the delegates of Deakin Business School to kick off the project “Women entrepreneurs in Australia and Vietnam: Building capacity, building relationships” over the two years of 2021and 2022. As a part of the Australia-Vietnam Enhanced Economic Strategy Grant (AVEG) Pilot Program, the project is funded by Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and includes two five-day training workshops for female entrepreneurs in Vietnam.
UEL and Deakin University have gained a consensus on the program contents and responsibility division. In details, Deakin University is responsible for workshop design, trainers and inviting Australian guest speakers, while UEL, apart from coordinating with Deakin University in training, will recruit 20 local female entrepreneurs, supply workshop venue, invite local guest speakers and organize site visits to start-up hubs in Ho Chi Minh City.. The guest speakers will be successful start-up founders, venture investors and mentors; they will deliver topics on entrepreneurship in Australia and Vietnam, including assistance for female entrepreneurs, among others.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting was conducted online. The project “Women entrepreneurs in Australia and Vietnam: Building capacity, building relationships” is a catalyst for UEL to formulate long-lasting relationships with Australian prospective universities in the subsequent years. It is expected to contribute not only to the development of business women in Vietnam, but also to the development of the Australia and Vietnam economic relation.
